Whitney D. Weiner is a visionary startup leader dedicated to creating and managing a rapidly growing network of dental practices throughout metro Detroit that provide the community with the highest level of comprehensive dental care. Before her move to Detroit, Dr. Weiner completed a fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in East London, England, where she provided care to an impoverished, largely immigrant population. She practiced for two years in Australia, where she was the only periodontist in a multispecialty dental practice, building a clinic that created a new vision for comprehensive approaches to dental care. She is recognized nationally for her team-based approach that uplifts and inspires her employees and for her community outreach, both personally and professionally.
Dr. Weiner’s love of helping patients started at a young age. Her mother is a highly respected double PhD psychologist, author, and professor, and her father built a medical insurance business from scratch. He also reached the base camp of Mt. Everest as he battled multiple sclerosis. These strong role models showed her the importance of family and perseverance, and she uses these lessons daily to improve the lives of others.
She was awarded a full academic scholarship to Colorado College and graduated with honors. Receiving several awards for excellence in research, practice management, oral pathology, and leadership, she was the sole recipient of a scholarship for outstanding achievement in periodontics at Iowa. Torn between becoming a physician or a dentist, her grandfather, a dentist and her role model – suggested she shadow some oral surgeons and periodontists. It fit her well; her aptitude and love for surgery made her an excellent periodontist, and her passion for building solid relationships with her patients.
Since entering into private practice over a decade ago, Dr. Weiner has earned countless awards for excellence in surgery, leadership, and practice management. Her passion for people radiates through everything she does. She is deeply connected to her local community and finds joy in serving.
She loves spending time with her husband, Eliot, their three young boys, Jake, Max, and Wes, and their rescue Pitbull mix, Mollymook. She also enjoys travel and adventure. With an unforgettable gap year spent backpacking through Central America living on $10 a day, a fulfilling winter as a ski instructor, and two years living in Australia with her husband, her passion for life radiates through everything she puts her mind to.
